Pliers, as needed
Electrical tape, as needed
Old toothbrush
Vinegar and bowl, as needed
An aerator is screwed into the nozzle of every sink and lavatory spout to lessen the flow of water from the nozzle. If the flow ever seems sluggish, the aerator may be clogged. Cleaning it is a simple task.
1.
Unscrew Aerator
Turning counterclockwise, carefully unscrew the aerator by hand from the faucet (Fig. 1). If it is stuck, wrap electrical tape around the jaws of pliers, loosen the aerator with the pliers, and continue by hand. The tape prevents the pliers from damaging the finish of the aerator.
2.
Remove Debris
Take the aerator apart and use an old toothbrush to brush off any debris on the screen, or soak the assembly in vinegar. (Fig. 2)
3.
Reinstall Aerator
When clean, reassemble the aerator and reinstall it.
